About MPI

Mission:

The Montana Policy Institute will equip Montana citizens and decision makers to better evaluate state public policy options, and to do so from the perspective that policies based upon free markets, limited government, and individual responsibility will result in the greatest common good.

Vision:

The Montana Policy Institute will become the premier source of information and ideas for providing Montana's political, business, academic, community, and media leadership with thoughtful, useful, and non-partisan analysis of public policy issues confronting our state. The general areas of interest for this Institute are in reforming government; economic development; improving health, public education, and welfare; criminal justice; and legislative analysis. Montana leaders who wish to approach these issues from a free market, small government, individual responsibility perspective will seek out the Montana Policy Institute for objective data and analyses that focus on policy outcomes over the short and long terms. In addition, MPI will actively seek out and exploit opportunities to educate Montana's citizens and leaders on the intrinsic benefits to all of approaching policy challenges from a free market perspective.
